Longevity is a global mega-trend. In 2018, the number of people older than 64 years old surpassed the number of children under 5 years old for the first time in history, a significant demographic change. Governments, businesses and institutions around the world are addressing challenges (and opportunities) from longer life expectancies. Global estimates of the longevity economy differ widely, from hundreds of billions of dollars to a few trillions, and there is no single and widely accepted definition of this market.
India, while considered a young country, has a mixed demographic with both young and rapidly ageing states, which is likely to impact many facets of life. Understanding the multidimensional aspect of ageing can unlock opportunities to build products and services that cater to the silver generation, and for longer lifespans.
